Gear Talk Time!

Anyone who knows me is keenly aware of one fact: I’m a sucker for inexpensive gear. Effects pedals are no exception. Now with that out of the way, let’s talk about a project consisting of generic and clone copies of pedals that I have spread out on the floor.

The idea was simple enough: design a pedalboard consisting of inexpensive pedals and attempt to sort of replicate some of the features of a processor such as my Digitech RP1000. You know, a few different types of distortion, some emulation preamp pedals, and various other effects.

In one month, I purchased 14 pedals. Talk about hyperfocus, amirite? The most expensive in the chain is the Behringer octave divider. The cheapest was about $9 and is branded as “Dozzly.” It is supposed to be a copy of the OCD overdrive. Just counting pedals, as of January 4, 2026, there are 22 pedals in my chain, plus the other stuff in there.

A quick note: I do not record with this rig, for the most part. It is set up for me to do so, however. I do use it to record the octave divider or wah pedal, however. Also, it is a lot quieter than you may think. I often run it without the noise suppressor on.

So, what is the chain? As of this blog entry, it goes like this:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R6oeNKxsF15V86o89WPA9vhcUyR7G7SL/view?usp=sharing
